Christmas for patients and nursing staff at St Mary’s Hospital will be just a little more cheerful, thanks to the efforts of the hospital’s Friends.
Once again the Friends of St Mary’s are planning to distribute over 400 small gifts around the wards of the hospital, with all the gifts this year being confectionery. But because of Covid precautions there will be no individual handing out of the sweets by the Friends; instead, each ward will receive a bag of items, leaving staff to carry out final distribution.
Lesley Myland, Friends’ chairman, says:
“Despite all the current challenges we thought it was important we should still show in some small way that we care about those patients and staff who are in the hospital over Christmas.
“It’s just another service our charity likes to provide, on top of running retail outlets and buying much needed medical equipment.”
