Ryde A and Ryde Royals went into this week’s matches tying at the top of the league.

The Raiders met Shanklin Warriors on Monday evening in a tight away fixture. The Raiders’ Alex Rorke suffered a rare defeat, losing against Shanklin’s Michael Bulpitt in 5 sets. However, Bulpitt could not get the better of Timothy Giles who won their encounter in 4 sets. Going into the doubles Shanklin were leading 5-4, however, Rorke and Giles came through as the winners to gain the draw for the Raiders.

Ryde Royals had to wait until Friday for their match, at home against Newport Vics A. The Royals’ Hugh idle continues to dominate the player’s averages and kept his 100% record. Teammate Ricky Lock won 2, losing to Newport’s Dave Hilliam. Hilliam’s teammate, John Cornforth, and the Royals’ Conal Howells contested an epic match, with Cornforth taking it right at the wire. The match ended 7-3 to the Raiders, giving them a 3 point lead at the top of the table.

Havenstreet Locos head the table after their 9-1 victory over Undercliff Belters, with Havenstreet’s Graham Evans player of the match, after winning all his games in 3 straight sets.

Shanklin Skuas lie in second place after their 10-0 defeat of Ryde Rangers, with Spike Hughes their player of the match.

Newport Vics C continue to lead the table over second placed Ryde Rustics; both teams had to face Ryde Rockets this week, with the Rockets star player Steve Gibbons proving unbeatable and keeping his 100% record.
