THE Hampshire County Cricket team will make a long awaited return to the Isle of Wight next month to play their first competitive fixture on the Island since 1962.

After a massive 50 year break from the garden Isle, the County team will play two T20 matches at Newclose Cricket Ground, Newport in the run up to their FL t20 campaign on 11th June.

The Island’s very own Danny Briggs and David Griffiths will join their teams mates against PCA Masters XI, a side from the Professional Cricketers Association, skippered by former England wicket-keeper Paul Nixon.

“The facilities at Newclose are excellent and I know we’re all looking forward to playing in front of the club’s considerable following there”.

Admission prices are £10 for adults, £5 for Under 16s and parking at the ground is free.
