Bomb Disposal experts were called to Ryde when Police investigating an alleged sexual assault located a grenade and a firearm at an address they were searching.
Police attended an address on Lind Street late on Friday night as part of an investigation into an alleged sexual assault on a woman.
During their search of the property, officers located a non-viable hand grenade and a firearm.
The assistance of the Royal Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team (EOD) was called upon, with specialists travelling across the Solent on Saturday morning to assist.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that a 70-year-old man from Ryde has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault, stalking without fear / alarm / distress, voyeurism and possessing a firearm.
He has been bailed, with conditions, pending further enquiries.
