Members of the Isle of Wight Green Party have unanimously agreed to put forward Vix Lowthion for the proposed new Isle of Wight East constituency, and Cameron Palin for the West constituency.
This decision is a change from the initial announcement in 2022 and a response to the final proposals from the Boundary Commission which has moved East Cowes into the West constituency.
Councillor Cameron Palin is currently the Deputy Mayor of East Cowes and this change will support his work in the town and the wider Medina area. He has lived in East Cowes most of his life and is now raising a family of his own with his partner and their baby. Cameron is also set to take up a post with an Island company in the housing sector after 2 years working in a local primary school.
Vix Lowthion is an experienced local campaigner and has been the national spokesperson for Education for the Green Party for the last 7 years. She lives with her 3 sons in Newport (in the West constituency), works as a secondary school teacher and volunteers for a wide number of cultural, community and environmental groups across the Island. She has been the Green parliamentary candidate since 2015, growing her support on the Isle of Wight to 1 of the largest amount of Green votes in the entire country and a national target candidate for the party.
Her priorities for the East constituency will include clean beaches, cultural and economic opportunities, and actions to tackle the cost-of-living crisis.
It is envisaged that the final online vote from local Green Party members to ratify this decision will be announced next month.

Fantastic news!
There are many honest and forward-looking candidates of different parties, with the policies we need to get us out of this mess.
Most of us agree we desperately need a change of government.
You may be aware of the amazing Carol Voderman and her passionate plea for tactical voting, with her flair for maths we can count on her to guide us, nearer the time, how to get an MP we can trust.
Getting a change of government requires a pretty simple tactic – Just do not vote Conservative! But this supposed “mess” is not a Tory plan. Many people have grown up in times of low mortgage interest rates, low food prices, low price clothes, low price everything, but it was always going to end because it was just a blip. The current “mess” is a return to reality and people need to brace themselves for a bumpy ride. It will make life more interesting! If you can’t pay your mortgage, take on an evening job like we used to do not so many years ago when we weren’t afraid of hard work. There are plenty of jobs out there that could supplement your income. But do not expect the government to bail you out.
The current mess isn’t a “plan”, no.
Its caused by the utter incompetence of the current Tory leadership.
You can’t really blame the Tories for the war in Ukraine (much as I would like to) but that was the catalyst for all this global instability.
no selwyn – the relentless hosing of society in freshly printed money since 2008, has ensured that there are now far too many dollars/pounds/euros etc chasing fewer goods and services. The goods and services are less because of the stupid lockdowns. More money in the system, less goods and services just simply pushes the prices up – hence inflation finally returning after a 40 year hiatus.
now we have governmental, intentional cost push inflation – and that is simply that they drive up the cost of living, by letting prices and wages rise, but keep tax thresholds low.
Ukraine is a side show – if putin wanted zelensky dead – he would have been months and months ago – this is all theatre for a bigger reason -control of oil/energy.
Er, no it wasn’t. It’s always been rich against poor. Not party politics. They all been to the same school’s.
“Her priorities for the East constituency will include clean beaches, cultural and economic opportunities, and actions to tackle the cost-of-living crisis.”
Surely, her priority should be protecting the environment. That is the big issue that the Greens aim to address.
Not if you’re trying to build houses on the countryside, property developer pretending to be an environmentalist.
What have the greens ever done for is? I’m going to vote Tory so they can get us out of this mess.

“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”
Go and get help.
Like standing for the greens and loosing 7 years in a row you mean?
No I think they expect to lose, and embrace losing. It’s the ones who still think the Tory party offers the best solution for the UK despite countless recent demonstrations that they are not.
Albert Einstein, of course.
Have you just woken from a coma or something? You do know that the Conservative party have been in charge for the last thirteen years?
You are part of the problem it seems. Fingers crossed you don’t have a mortgage, don’t need a hip replacement or want to swim in the sea. I could go on.
Please go on because the Boris brainwashing is still alive and well.
At least got same tree in background? sorry now got me specs on can see it’s her hair – oops
Vote for Independent only if you want someone who cares.
Can’t stand the woman. After a spat on FB. She was so passive aggressive, it was dreadful. Didn’t her husband have some murky business dealings?
