The Isle of Wight Sheepdog Trials will return to Ashey this weekend for what is set to be an action-packed weekend with over 50 competitors taking part. Organisers are quietly optimistic about a good weather weekend for the 3rd annual trial to be held off Rowlands Lane, on The Downs. With competitors travelling from all over the UK, the event promises to again deliver a superb demonstration of rural expertise as the sheepdogs work sheep under the critical eye of the judges and in front of a hushed crowd. The competition will run from 08:00-18:00 on both Saturday 1st June and Sunday 2nd June. More than 3,500 spectators are expected to attend across the weekend. Locally produced Hazelgrove and Brownrigg burgers, hot dogs and more will be available, alongside Calbourne Classics and Isle of Wight ice cream, milkshakes, waffles and sundaes. The I Love Wight Makers Market will also be on hand offering their local crafts. Entry is free with a donation to Mountbatten, with programmes also free for 2024 – also with a donation. All profits from the Goddards bar and Calbourne Classics cake stall will also be donated to the Hospice. The event is supported by Red Funne, Go Internet and BCM.

Ha ha. The effectiveness of cloud seeding has been disproved countless times but it still continues in some areas despite potentially adverse effects on respiratory health. A major study conducted by the United States National Academy of Sciences failed to find statistically significant support for cloud seeding’s effectiveness. Saudis love to waste money. They have plenty of it to throw away.
