2 properties and a plot of land with sea views on the Island have been sold in an online auction.
They were among 132 lots across southern England listed with regional land and property auctioneers Clive Emson.
Freehold, a 3-storey town centre building in Newport went for £96,000. The ground floor of the property at 59 High Street was most recently used as an estate agency office, with 1-bed living accommodation above.
A 1-bedroom first-floor flat at Flat 3, 42 George Street, Ryde, which was guided at £55,000-60,000 and had a 999-year lease from 1846, sold prior to auction.
A bidding war saw £24,000 more than the guide price paid for a 0.21-acre site called the Ramblers. Freehold, the site at Bonchurch Shute in Ventnor, overlooking the English Channel, fetched £124,000.
Rob Marchant, Clive Emson’s Island auctioneer, said:
“We had keen interest, resulting in a bidding war. The Ramblers name was attached to a former house which has long since been demolished.
“There is lapsed planning permission for a detached house with integral garage and parking. However, we are not privy to any plans the new owner may or may not have.”
Clive Emson’s first of 8 auctions for 2021 is online on Wednesday 10th February. Lot entries close on Tuesday 19th January, with the auction catalogue online from Saturday 23rd January.
