Briddlesford Farm has announced that its popular Guernsey milk is now available in glass bottles, in what is being dubbed another environmental win for the Isle of Wight.
Everyone knows that milk always tastes better out of glass, but since the demise of the milkman it has been hard to come by.
Now, Islanders are able to purchase glass bottles filled with fresh milk from Briddlesford’s own pedigree Guernsey cow herd located just outside Wootton.
As well as being available to buy at Briddlesford’s farm shop, the glass bottles can be picked up at Norris Family Stores in Niton or delivered to your doorstep through Island Dairy Service.
In July last year, Four Winds Dairy suddenly closed leaving customers in shock. And it came just 8 months after Milk and More ceased their operations on the Isle of Wight.
So can the bottles go back to the dairy and be re-used?
That’ll be more smashed glass everywhere then. Maybe they should offer a take back scheme. Like fizzy drinks companies did years ago.
Hope they take back the empties for re-use as the bottles probably aren’t recyclable.
