A reported gas leak at a property in the West Wight led to an emergency response by firefighters from both Freshwater and Newport earlier tonight (Thursday).
It was just before 18:00 that Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service received reports of an incident at a residential address on Heathfield Road, Freshwater.
2 appliances and the rescue support vehicle were mobilised to the property, with the residents evacuated.
A gazebo was set up to provide some immediate temporary shelter to the elderly occupants.
They were assessed by paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
Following a thorough inspection of the property, with engineers from SGN also attending, it was determined that it was safe for the occupants to return.
The incident was brought to a close by 20:15.
