Speedway supporters on the Isle of Wight are being invited to attend a public meeting this week to hear the latest on the sport’s future, with organisers set to outline targets for both the 2025 and 2026 seasons amid ongoing uncertainty.
The Volunteers, Fans and Sponsors Forum is being held in the Premier Lounge at Smallbrook Stadium in Ryde on Friday (30th May) at 19:00.
The event has been organised by the Isle of Wight speedway management as part of ongoing efforts to engage with the local community and update stakeholders on crucial developments.
Key topics expected to be discussed include the club’s continued talks with Wightlink regarding operational support and logistics for the upcoming season. As previously reported by Island Echo, the future of speedway on the Isle of Wight is currently hanging in the balance, with negotiations yet to be finalised.
The Forum will also explore potential options available to the club moving forward, as well as provide an update on planning for the next 2 years. Organisers say the session will offer transparency around their ambitions and challenges, with the aim of strengthening support for the long-running sporting fixture.
Speedway has been a part of Isle of Wight sporting life since 1996, with only a few years of racing missed since then. The Smallbrook-based club has produced numerous rising talents through its training school, with world champions Chris Holder and Jason Doyle among those to have raced at the venue early in their careers.
All supporters, volunteers and sponsors are encouraged to attend the event and take part in the discussion on the future of speedway on the Isle of Wight.
