Wightlink has once again announced cancellations on its Yarmouth-Lymington service, with 4 sailings cancelled for Friday morning.
The cross-Solent operator says that due to the absence of an essential crew member the 06:15 and 08:40 sailings from Lymington have been pulled alongside the 07:30 and 09:45 sailings from Yarmouth.
It’s said that Wightlink has not been able to source short notice cover for the absent members of staff.
All booked customers have been notified and moved to alternate sailings.
Wightlink say they sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this action will cause.

The beauty of a Bridge – no staffing issues or weather issues.
Bring it on.
Wightlink are in Competition with St Mary’s
They are both always overwhelmed
Did somebody mention a bridge?
The reason why the Island will always be backward is because they have no
reliable links to the Real World.
Depends what you mean by backward, Michael. When you think of what is going on over there on tne mainland and how much of it is creeping into our daily lives, you might see why so many Islanders don’t want to speed the inevtiable process up with a bridge.
Says someone who calls himself “overner”.
As a Islander I can assure you that the most vocal opponents to a fixed link are people who have moved here to retire. Real islanders realise that better links to the mainland is essential to prevent us becoming one massive offshore care home.
Sadly Wightlink management don’t care.. shareholders not staff or customers matter to them . This is as good as it gets
How can you have missing staff on odd random few spaced out sailings lol
What a crock
Staff work longer shift than hour here hour there…use another feeble excuse..if youve not used em s5ll up yet!
It’s pretty clear following the CE interview on IOW Radio that Wightlink are more interested in making profits than providing customer service. It’s a sad financial world we are living in
Wightlink are a private company. A private company’s only duty is to its shareholders. That is a fact. Anyone who thinks Wightlink would ever prioritise “public service” over profit is living in fairyland.
If our MP obtained Island status for us, as promised, then the troubles with ferries may be dealt with.
Can anyone name any election promise that Seely has actually managed to deliver?
Not sure how that would happen, island status would not make wightlink anymore reliable unless you intend to double the wages of the staff in which case the local taxpayers would be paying for it, the bridge or a tunnel which would be less problematic for shipping would and is the answer, the length of the tunnel would be half that of underground section of the elizabeth line in London so easily achievable by engineers.
This is really bad management!
Get Nicola Sturgeon to sort out some ferries for the iow….second thoughts! Best not
I expect their all decaying by now from the depop shot, you were warned and the tin foil hat wearer’s were laughed at. So tuff shit!
