The funeral of Station Commander Eddy Woodford will take place on Tuesday 8th December.
Freshwater Fire Crew will be leading the funeral cortege onboard H79P1 and Eddy’s wife Pauline and daughter Helen would like to invite the West Wight community to pay their last respects to Eddy as the cortege passes through Freshwater next Tuesday morning.
The church service will be by invitation only due to covid guidelines and number restrictions however since Eddy touched so many people’s lives in West Wight during his outstanding 31 years with the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service you are invited to say your final goodbyes before the church service.
The funeral cortege will leave Edinburgh Road at 10.30 am and will travel down Copse Lane, Hooke Hill, then along School Green Road and Tennyson Road before pausing at the fire station to sound our sirens one last time for Eddy, the cortege will then continue down Avenue Road, back along School Green Road and to the church.
You are encouraged to support Eddy’s family, keep a sensible social distance and say goodbye to Eddy on his final journey through the village.
