Singer and actress Jane Birkin has died at the age of 76.
The former Upper chine schoolgirl was found at her home in Paris by her caregiver.
The Anglo-French actress and singer suffered a stroke in September 2021 and has recently had to postpone several concerts after breaking her shoulder in March of last year.
Birkin shot to fame for the sexually explicit song Je t’aime… moi non plus, which reached number one in the UK Singles Chart in 1969, despite being sung in French and failing to played on numerous radio stations.
The song was sung as a duet with her late partner – the legendary actor, director and singer Serge Gainsbourg.
Jane Birkin was also renowned for the eponymous Birkin bag named in her honour, which has become a status symbol, with some selling for over $10,000
Famous faces to own a Birkin bag include former US first lady Melania Trump, Victoria Beckham and Kim Kardashian.
