Described as a ‘Victorian Gentlemen’s Residence’, an 8-bedroom house on the Island is poised to go under the virtual gavel in the latest Clive Emson auction later this month.
The 4-floor detached property at 18 Partlands Avenue is among 83 lots being sold online by Clive Emson, Britain’s largest independent regional land and property auctioneers.
Rob Marchant, the firm’s Island auctioneer, says:
“There’s a cellar and even a servants’ staircase and accommodation.
“Given the freehold guide price of £340-360,000, we anticipate keen interest from across the region. There is a lot of bricks and mortar here, with history.”
During the Second World War the building laboured as Ryde’s maternity hospital. More recently, a self-contained annexe was adapted from the former servants’ quarters.
Rob added:
“The house is currently arranged as a family house. However, there is potential for conversion to apartments or as professional use, such as a surgery, subject to planning consents.”
Also in the auction…
Currently let at £40,200 per annum, a mixed residential and commercial investment at 4-5 St Thomas’ Square, Newport, is guided freehold at £300-330,000. There are 3-4 reception rooms, a second kitchen/utility room and 6 bedrooms on the first floor and two on the second.
A 1.76-acre development site at Hunny Hill Farm, Brighstone, is guided freehold at £400-450,000. Planning permission has been given for the demolition of an agricultural workers’ bungalow and barn.
Clive Emson’s online auction is Wednesday 17th June, and is the largest online auction since the firm was established 31 years ago.
