UPDATED WITH VIDEO: 4 forensic investigation teams from the mainland have arrived at a property in Gurnard this morning (Friday) as an investigation continues into the suspicious death of a 45-year-old woman.
Officers have donned white suits and entered the terraced house on The Avenue as the circumstances of yesterday’s incident, as first reported by Island Echo, are explored and evidence is gathered.
A number of mainland detectives have also arrived at the scene.
A 60-year-old man from Sandown – thought to be the deceased’s partner – remains in Police custody on suspicion of murder.
Neighbours this morning described the couple as ‘lovely, lovely people’, but also revealed that the woman suffered from alcoholism.
UPDATE @ 13:01 – Detectives have searched through the suspect’s car, which is parked outside the Gurnard home.
Meanwhile forensic investigators have used a 3D laser scanner to create a digital map of the property, including specific measurements.
Hampshire Constabulary are yet to release any further information, but an update is expected later on today.
UPDATE @ 18:40 – Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that the 60-year-old man remains in Police custody this evening.
Further updates are expected to be issued over the weekend.
