UPDATED: Forensic officers from the mainland are tonight (Friday) conducting a search of a home in East Cowes, where it is thought a person has died.
Detectives, uniformed officers and the specialist scientific sciences team are in attendance at an address on Albert Way, Hawthorn Meadows.
It is understood an individual has died within the property, but in non-suspicious circumstances.
The scene is being documented and detectives from Newport CID are conducting door to door enquiries.
Police have been on scene since around 18:00.
UPDATE: Forensic officers left the scene shortly before midnight before returning to the mainland.
Hampshire Constabulary are yet to comment on the incident.
UPDATE SUNDAY – Police have confirmed they are not treating the death of a 47-year-old woman as suspicious.
Officers were deployed to the address on Albert Way after concerns were raised for the occupant.
