Scenes of crime officers are this afternoon (Sunday) continuing to examine a footpath in Newport that has been cordoned off by Police.
A pathway connecting Grange Drive and Heytesbury Road off Hunnyhill has been cordoned off today as investigations are carried out into an incident, believed to be a serious assault.
Residents have expressed their concern when met with the scene this morning, with at least 5 Police units in attendance throughout the day. Many locals have said they have not heard anything occurring overnight.
Officers from Hampshire Constabulary are combing the crime scene and surrounding areas including at the bottom of Hunnyhill. Evidence has been removed from the scene.
Police are expected to remain at Grange Drive for the remainder of today.
