The Floating Bridge service between Cowes and East Cowes has been suspended once again today (Thursday).
The service has seen a week of near-constant disruption to services with the vital connection between the 2 towns expected to be off until lunchtime today.
The Isle of Wight Council is yet to reveal the reason for the suspension, although Island Echo readers have reported that Floating Bridge No.6 has run aground on the East bank.
UPDATE @ 11:48 – The Isle of Wight Council says that in order to undertake an inspection of the rams following yesterday’s fault, it has been necessary for the Floating Bridge to remain grounded at East Cowes.
The service will resume when the tide rises this afternoon.
UPDATE @ 13:08 – The floating bridge service has now resumed.

why cant they just replace the floating bridge with something much better, like a lifting bridge or something? may take time and disrupt more but will do us all some good traffic wise and travel wise
Is there anyway you can reduce your council tax on this scrapheap as im for 1 sick of paying for it through our high council tax
Put the old one back IT WORKED !!!
I wish the media would stop reporting this failed monstrosity, it doesn’t work and never has, its not news anymore..
Just sell it for scrap then we don’t have to worry about it anymore…
Not reporting it is exactly what County Hall would like, then they can pretend its all fine as you wont hear about it….
We have had years of negative reports on this failed project, I think we have all received enough depressing news on this expensive monstrosity.
No-one can rely on it any more, so don’t use it because you will be let down time and time again..
I am sure Cliftongrade could sort out all its problems, it is amazing what can be done with a couple of gas axes
What a nice little earner for Cowes Harbour Commission, strange they get the work supplying a pusher boat and no one has heard of tenders being put out, must be a few buying the same trousers as wards with the reinforced back pocket.
Fed up with this pile of cr– body bag ready ….seriously if this amalgamation of councils do not sort it I may result in doing something illegal …
Like blowing it up !!!! Useless pile of cr–
…
Beached! Nothing on that prow and ramp looks straight or robust.
