Firefighters from Ryde and Shanklin have this morning (Tuesday) been called to a blaze involving vehicle tyres in Bembridge.
The alarm was raised at around 09:30, prompting the attendance of 2 fire appliances to the scene on Peacock Hill – close to Sandhills Holiday Park.
Crews wearing breathing apparatus quickly set to work using 1 hose reel to bring the fire under control.
The fire, which affected an area measuring approximately 5x5m, has since been fully extinguished.
It appears the tyres were laid on top of stored silage, located within a waste disposal compound.
The cause of the fire has not been confirmed.

Tyres should be kept in a closed in compound,
all that pollution is no good for anyone.
