Firefighters from Newport have tackled a small bedding fire at HMP Isle of Wight overnight.
Crews were called to Parkhurst prison at around 00:45 this morning (Wednesday) after receiving reports of a small fire inside one of the prisoner’s cells.
Thankfully, the blaze was kept under control and was extinguished by 01:15.
It is currently unknown what caused the fire to ignite in the former Category A prison.
