Firefighters from Cowes are tackling a large bonfire off Place Road this evening (Sunday).
1 appliance is in attendance next to the new build estate having been alerted to the blaze at just before 20:25.
Members of the public alerted fire control to the situation when they spotted flames from the roadside.
It’s understood the bonfire heap has been added to over recent weeks.
The retained crew are currently using hose reels to dowse the flames and prevent the fire from spreading.

Seems some never learn or care. So dangerous to have huge fires.
This was reported several weeks ago to Environmental Health. After cordoning off the timber the owner advised officers they would find another method of disposing of the wood…
Tip fees so dear, likely he set it ablaze, walked away, then can blame the chavs.
