UPDATED: Firefighters from Ryde are tackling a house fire in the Haylands area of Ryde this morning (Wednesday).
Two appliances were called to the scene at The Hayloft off Windmill Close at around 08:30 after a neighbour spotted smoke and raised the alarm.
Crews wearing breathing apparatus have forced entry into the property and are working to contain and extinguish the fire on the ground floor.
No one has been injured in the incident and paramedics called to the scene have been stood down.
UPDATE @ 09:15 – The fire has been extinguished by fire crews, who are now ventilating the property and making up in preparation to leave the scene.
The cause of the alert has been identified as a small fire in a wicker basket, which is used by the occupiers to store logs.
The property has been saved.
