Firefighters from Newport are tackling a fire inside an East Cowes property this evening (Sunday).
A pair of pumping appliance from Newport Fire Station were sent to the scene on Hefford Road following the initial call at around 18:45.
At the scene, firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus have entered the detached property, using a single hose reel jet to extinguish the blaze – which is believed to have broken out in the kitchen
Island Echo understands that the occupants of the property were able to leave the premises prior to the arrival of Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service.
The incident remains ongoing.
UPDATE @ 19:45 – Ventilation fans are being used to rid the property of any lingering smoke.
All crews present are beginning to stand down.
