Fire crews from Newport and Ventnor have extinguished a vehicle fire in Whitwell this evening (Friday).
Emergency services were called to the scene on Southford Lane shortly after 17:00 following reports of a pick-up on fire next to other vehicles and a garage, as reported by Island Echo via Twitter.
Firefighters spent around 30 minutes extinguishing the blaze, which has completely destroyed the front end of the Ford.
A plume of black smoke could be seen billowing from the area from several miles away.
No one was hurt in the incident, which temporarily blocked the rural road.
