Firefighters from Newport were mobilised to assist the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service in moving a patient from a flat in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday).
Crews were called to in Lugley Street the scene at 04:40, where an Aerial Ladder Platform was used to move the casualty from the 2nd floor flat. St James’ Street was closed between the High Street and Lugley Street junctions whilst the extraction took place.
The road was reopened by firefighters just after 05:30.
Emergency Services including firefighters and paramedics regularly work together to move patients in awkward and unusual spaces, or places where access is restricted by things like tight staircases or ladders.
