An altercation involving the occupants of 2 cars earlier this week has resulted in the arrest of a Bembridge man on suspicion of a firearms offence.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight were called at just after 18:30 on Friday 11th July, to a report of an incident involving 2 vehicles on Sandown Road between Bembridge and Yaverland.
It was reported that there had been an altercation between the occupants of the vehicles.
An investigation was launched and as part of our enquiries, officers visited an address on Arundel Close in Ryde and arrested a 34 year-old man from Ryde and a 26 year-old man from Bembridge on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
Officers stood guard of the flat on Arundel Close for more than 12 hours before leaving the scene on Saturday afternoon.
It was initially reported that a firearm may have been involved in the incident, but Police have confirmed that no firearm has been located at this time and there is not believed to be any wider risk to the public.
An investigation is underway and officers are carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances.
The arrested males have been bailed with conditions until 11th October.
