The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service tackled a fire at a farm in Shorwell overnight.
3 appliances and a water carrier were mobilised to Cheverton Farm off Shorwell Shute after a fire broke out in a property used by the farm’s Sheppard.
Crews from Newport and Cowes used breathing apparatus to enter the building and extinguish the flames. A water carrier from Freshwater was called in due to the remote location.
Thankfully, the occupants of the property and their family pets were able to escape uninjured although 2 people were treated for the effects of smoke inhalation.
Cheverton Farm is open for business as normal.
