The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are attending a tumble dryer fire at a property in Shanklin this morning (Good Friday).
Crews from Sandown and Ryde were called to Coronation Gardens at just before 10:20 following a 999 call from the home owner.
It has been confirmed to Island Echo that the fire appears to have been caused by an electrical fault in the Hoover branded unit. The fire has been extinguished.
Leighton Bryant, station officer for the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service is encouraging Island residents to check the national safety website relating to tumble dryer fires and the recalls in place.
No one has been injured in the incident and crews are preparing the leave the scene.
