The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service has assisted the RSPCA in rescuing a goose at Ryde Canoe Lake this afternoon (Tuesday).
The assistance of firefighters was requested by an RSPCA officer at around 15:30 in order to reach the injured animal.
2 firefighters wearing specialist water rescue gear entered the canoe lake and captured the goose, which had a barb caught on the underside of its wing.
The RSPCA deemed the injury superficial and after removing the barb, the animal was released.
