UPDATED: Firefighters are tackling a large fire in the rear garden of a property in Ryde this evening (Monday).
2 appliances from Ryde are in attendance on Longmead Road and are using a hose reel and 2 BA sets to extinguish the flames.
Island Echo understands a number of items have caught alight, including fence panels and part of a tree.
UPDATE @ 19:45 – The fire, which was producing flames over 20ft in height, has been extinguished by the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service.
The area is being damped down and checked for any hot spots.
The cause is currently unclear.
