FIRE CREWS RESPOND TO SMELL OF BURNING

Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue LogoFirefighters from Ryde and Newport have responded to a smell of burning at The Co-Operative store in Ryde this afternoon (Monday).

Two appliances from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were called to the large store on Anglesea Street at around 15:40 after staff reported a burning smell.

Investigations have taken place which have led to a faulty light fitting.

Both appliances have now left the scene.

Nearly a year ago a similar incident occurred when the smell of burning was reported at the same store.
