UPDATED: Three appliances from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are this evening attending a property fire in Bonchurch.
Fire crews were alerted to the incident shortly after 17:30 following reports of smoke billowing from Westfield House on Shore Road.
UPDATE @ 18:15 – Crews have now left the scene and have returned to station.
Island Echo understands a resident at the address phoned the Fire Service to ask for advice on how to turn off the smoke alarm while cooking dinner, ahead of the firefighters arrival.
There have been no injuries and no serious damage.
