Firefighters from Shanklin and Newport have responded to a reported bus fire in Shanklin Old Village tonight (Tuesday).
Two appliances from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were mobilised to the High Street at around 22:40 after a fire broke out on a Southern Vectis Route 3 bus.
It is understood smoke issuing from a wheel unit sparked the alert, but that the situation was quickly brought under control and the fire extinguished prior to the arrival of fire crews.
Both appliances have now left the scene and returned to station.
