UPDATED: Fire crews from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are attending an incident at BAE Systems in Cowes tonight (Friday).
At least 3 appliances from Newport and Cowes are on scene at the radar testing site on Newport Road, alongside the Incident Command Unit from Newport and local Police.
Emergency services were alerted to the incident at 07:45, with further resources requested at around 20:25.
Island Echo readers have reported seeing smoke issuing from the building, however the cause of the emergency response is currently unknown.
UPDATE @ 21:30 – Two pumps remain on the scene, with Newport P2 and the Incident Command Unit returning to station.
The incident is being described to Island Echo as ‘not serious’.
UPDATE @ 22:40 – The incident is being brought to a close tonight.
It has been confirmed that a fire broke out in a computer room.
Crews have extinguished the fire, ventilated the building and checked for any remaining hotspots.
