Wight Tri held the last of the Wight Tri Summer Splash and Dash Series at the Totland Aquathlon on Friday 15th August. The event was originally set for Gurnard, but the venue had to be changed at short notice due to the Southern Water sewage outage at Gurnard on the morning of the race. Competitors had the choice of either a 250 or 500 sea swim, followed by a 1 or 2 lap of a 2.4km lap from Totland towards Colwell Bay and return. 1st in the nominated timed event was Claire Squirrel, who posted 39.41 for the long course swim and run, 19 seconds inside her nominated time. Dan Morgan was 2nd with 25 seconds inside his nominated time, with Lisa Taylor 3rd, 28 seconds adrift. The fastest male and female on the long course were Dan Morgan and Lucy Doorly, posting 32.40 and 38.02 respectively, with David Anderson and Lisa Taylor fastest on the short course in 22.56 and 22.32. As this was the final event in the series, the winner of the Wight Tri Splash and Dash Series was announced. Congratulations goes to Dan Morgan who won the series with 6 points, with Craig Wilson (9 points) 2nd and Lucy Doorly (10 points) in 3rd place. The next Wight Tri event will be the Wight Tri Club Triathlon Championships which is being held on at Gurnard Sailing Club on Bank Holiday Monday 26th August at 17:00.
