UPDATED: The link road between Fairlee Road and Medina Way in Newport has been closed this morning (Saturday) due to a fault with the permanaent traffic lights.
Island Roads have taken the decision to close the road, resulting in all traffic being diverted around Coppins Bridge.
Motorists can expect delays in the area whilst engineers work to resolve the problem.
It is unknown when the road will re-open.
UPDATE – Traffic is extremely heavy in and around Newport this afternoon, particularly on Fairlee Road and Staplers Road.
Southern Vectis services are experiencing delays of over an hour as a result.
UPDATE @ 16:45 – The link road has now re-opened in both directions following a successful repair to the traffic lights.
