Bembridge RNLI launched their all weather lifeboat earlier than expected this evening (Tuesday) following a launch request from Solent Coastguard.
The volunteer crew had planned to launch for training at 19:00 but at around 17:10 they were tasked to investigate a report of an anchored but unmanned motorboat with its engine running to the South of No Mans Land Fort.
Having located the vessel, it turned out to be a local sailing club’s committee boat that had been left on a mooring with its engine running to charge up the batteries.
Having ascertained that no one was in any danger, the Alfred Albert Williams lifeboat returned to Bembridge and was rehoused by 17:45.
