A flock of sheep that have been playing with the traffic in Ryde this morning (Tuesday) have now taken up residency in an Appley garden. More than a dozen sheep and lambs are thought to have escaped from a field off Appley Road at around 07:00. Quick-thinking locals have been able to herd the woolly wanderers into Thornton Close with the assistance of Police, who were alerted to the situation due to the hazard to motorists. The sheep are now contently nibbling on a resident’s plants after making a ‘ewe-turn’ straight into her back garden! They’ve been eyeing up the hot tub and the kitchen cupboards too…
Efforts are now underway to identify the farmer responsible for the flock, but in the meantime, they are penned into a walled garden and are out of harm’s way. Lambs are happily suckling away, with the adults taking a little lie down after their morning adventure.
