ELDERLY WOMAN EXTRICATED AFTER LORRY COLLISION


highparkroad2UPDATED: Emergency services have this evening extricated an elderly woman from the wreckage of a car after it collided with a lorry in Ryde.

Police, ambulance and three fire crews raced to the scene of the incident on High Park Road with the junction of Arundel Road in Elmfield shortly after 17:00.

Island Echo understand at least one woman, believed to be elderly, has been freed by firefighters. Her condition is currently unknown.

highparkroadresizedThe incident has involved a Ryde Demolition lorry, which has suffered light damage.

UPDATE @ 19:00 – Ryde Demolition’s lorry has been driven away from the scene with damage to the driver’s front side, however High Park Road remains closed this evening.

UPDATE @ 19:30 – High Park Road has been reopened by Police following the recovery of the silver car by Stag Lane Motors. An investigation is underway.

UPDATE SATURDAY Island Echo understand those involved in yesterday’s collision are said to be safe and well and were released from St Mary’s Hospital last night.
