An elderly couple have been rescued from their home in Cowes following a small property fire this morning (Wednesday).
Three appliances from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service – two from Newport and one from Cowes – were called to the incident at Magdalen Cresent at just gone 05:20.
Firefighters have rescued two elderly occupants from the building – a man and a woman – and left them in the care of paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
The fire, which has been described as small, was extinguished by 05:45.
Fire crews have now left the scene.
UPDATE @ 06:40 – The elderly homeowners have escaped any serious injury and have been released from the care of paramedics. They did not require any hospital treatment.
