UPDATED: East Hill Road in Ryde has become completely blocked to traffic in both directions this afternoon (Monday) due to a large fallen tree.
Motorists are being diverted locally by members of the public at present after the tree fell and blocked the entire width of the road at just before 15:15.
No one has been injured in the incident, which has thankfully occurred after the busy afternoon school run.
Island Roads are en-route to the scene to implement a hard road closure and tree surgeons have been alerted.
The road is anticipated to remain closed for at least the next two hours.
UPDATE @ 18:15 – Island Roads have confirmed that the tree has been cleared and the road has reopened in both directions.
