East Cowes Town Council is asking every one of its residents to share their views on house building, employment, transport, heritage, regeneration and more in a detailed questionnaire which will be delivered to every household and business in the town, starting today (Friday).
With major development projects proposed for the area, but the local Queensgate school already full to capacity, the Town Council is seeking the views of its community to ensure that strategic plans truly reflect residents’ wishes and aspirations.
Responses are being collected to inform forthcoming Town & Neighbourhood Plans for East Cowes, which will be used alongside the Isle of Wight Council’s next Island Plan to guide development. These community-driven plans will set out a vision of what East Cowes will be like to live and work in over the next fifteen years, and how that vision can be achieved.
The questionnaire can be anonymous if residents wish, only collecting postcodes to make sure that responses are balanced from different parts of the town.
Completed questionnaires should be returned to the Town Hall in York Avenue if possible. Housebound or shielding residents can arrange for their questionnaire to be collected by phoning the Town Council Office on 01983 299 082.
Alternatively, the questionnaire can be completed online by visiting https://secure.journeysurveys.com/answer/1495 in which case there is no need to return a paper copy to the Town Hall.
Residents of East Cowes who wish to participate in shaping the Town & Neighbourhood Plans can get involved by adding their contact details to the end of the paper questionnaire, or by phoning consultants Plan Research on their local rate number 0845 508 3085.
Don’t waste your time. For people AND Ryde town council all voted to NOT have the Penny Feather development, but, as usual UNLESS the people’s and the parish councils ‘choice’ is what the council are going to do ANWAY, it won’t happen.
Democracy ONLY exists if the people choice coincide with what those in power were going to do anyway.
you know what this has been going on for decades nothing will change /happen i remember back in the 80s monkey town was going to be like a new french riviera…look at it pretty much a turd hole…still it has got its own floating turd on chains to be proud of…

Apparently everyone had their say on Red Funnel not being about to evict people from their houses, or to knock it all down, just for a car park, but as usual they all got ignored! Red Funnel & Wightlink have spoilt the island, so it’s about time the public & council stood up to them!
