East Cowes Carnival will return for the first time in decades tonight (Saturday) after a volunteer group secured Red Funnel’s support of more than £2,500.
Thanks to the dedication and hard work of a team of volunteers, Mike Flanagan, Flag carrier Harley and Michelle Vincent, with support from Red Funnel, the carnival will hit the streets of East Cowes from 18:15 this evening.
The parade will start and end at Victoria Grove following a loop through the town centre; down Victoria Avenue, along Clarence Road and back onto Victoria Grove. Local residents are encouraged to find a prime spot ahead of the anticipated parade.
Ahead of the Carnival, Red Funnel’s Commercial Director Lee Hudson welcomed the team of 5 volunteers and 3 East Cowes Carnival Queens, Princess Emily, Junior Queen Hannah, Senior Queen Abby aboard Red Osprey, as they drummed up support and excitement ahead of the weekend.
Lee Hudson, Red Funnel’s Commercial Director, says:
“Seeing the hardwork and dedication of the East Cowes Carnival team is truly inspiring, the event clearly means so much to the East Cowes Community and it’s a privilege that Red Funnel are able to support the meaningful community event.”

Hope the bra burners don’t get to envolved or kiss goodbye to carnival queens unless its a gizzer in drag then it will be applauded.
Good to see the carnival back. But next time, can it do the old route? And not the big loop!
It was a great evening, let’s hope they keep doing them
in East Cowes, well done Red Funnel .
Yes, Red Funnel doing something right for a change. Nearly had a side impact today with car coming out of the second exit for traffic. They all think they have the right of way. That’s what car horns were invented for.
