Firefighters from Newport, Sandown and Shanklin have tackled a property fire in Lake overnight, which has led to the hospitalisation of a woman.
Three fire appliances were mobilised to a house on Newport Road near Broadlea Primary School at around 01:30 this morning (Saturday) after an electricity meter caught fire.
Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service were called to the scene and conveyed one female to St Mary’s Hospital. Her condition is currently unknown.
Engineers from Southern and Scottish Energy were requested to attend the incident by the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service and spent many hours on scene making the area safe.
Emergency crews have now stood down.
