A crash between a pick-up truck and 2 parked vehicles led to the closure of the main road into Godshill during the early hours of this morning (Sunday). Police were called shortly before 00:45 to reports that a vehicle travelling along Newport Road, between Rookley and Godshill, had collided with a number of parked cars. Officers arrived on scene to find that the Ford pick-up had smashed into 2 vehicles parked at the side of the road, close to the junction with West Street. The road was closed for a time which led to disruption on Southern Vectis’ Route 3. The main through road has since re-opened. It has been confirmed by Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary that no offences have been identified and the matter has been left to insurance companies. No injuries were sustained in the crash.
