DUO ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH BURGLARY OF PERSONAL ITEMS FROM SHANKLIN FOOTBALL CLUB

Two men in their 40s have been arrested in connection with the burglary of various items from a changing room at Shanklin Football Club over the weekend (Saturday 20th January). As first reported by Island Echo, various members of the Ventnor Reserves squad saw several personal items including their phones, wallets and watches stolen from inside a changing room during their Combination 1 fixture v Shanklin Reserves at County Ground. Some of the items taken were located in nearby bushes close to the ground whilst others were located further away near Tesco in Lake. Island Echo understands that practically all items have been found/recovered. Just 3 days later, Police have now confirmed that a 43-year-old man from Newport and a 44-year-old man from Ryde have been arrested, with officers descending on West Street in Ryde to arrest the latter this morning. The pair – arrested on suspicion of burglary – remain in custody at this time.
