More than 1,000 plastic ducks will race down the River Medina in Newport this Easter to raise money for Aspire and its vital community services.
The annual Aspire Duck Race is returning on Easter Saturday (4th April), with hundreds expected to gather at Shide as 1,100 plastic ducks are released into the River Medina at 12:00.
The popular fundraising event helps support the work of Aspire, an Isle of Wight charity that provides a wide range of services for local residents, including food support, warm spaces, community groups, lunches, a soft play centre and an escape room.
Residents can take part by purchasing a duck for just £1, with every entry going into the race for a chance to win the top prize.
The winning duck will scoop a £100 cash prize, kindly sponsored by Horsler Lift Services.
Ducks can be purchased at several locations across the Island, including Jewson in Sandown, The Bargeman’s Rest in Newport, The Dairyman’s Daughter in Arreton, Wight Building Supplies in Newport and the Aspire shop at The Arcade in Ryde.
Tickets can also be purchased online via the Aspire Duck Race page.
Organisers have thanked a number of local businesses for supporting the event, including Horsler Lift Services for sponsoring the prize, Thompson Trees for providing car parking, the landowner for the use of the bridge to launch the ducks, and Asda for donating Easter eggs.
