DRUGS FOUND AT HOME ADDRESS AFTER STOP AND SEARCH IN RYDE

A stop and search on a 25-year-old woman in Ryde resulted in the discovery of a quantity of drugs, with a further search of her home address turning up more cocaine and cannabis. At dinnertime yesterday (Tuesday), officers on patrol in the area of Ryde High Street identified a female acting suspiciously. She was detained and searched which led to the discovery of a quantity of suspected Class A and Class B drugs. Following this, a further search was conducted at a residential address on nearby Player Street where officers found further suspected cannabis and cocaine. The woman was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and taken into custody at Newport Police Station. She has since been released under investigation while further enquiries are carried out.
