All trains running between Ryde and Shanklin have been suspended tonight (Thursday) due to a drunken male reported to be on the railway line, with Police using a drone to track down the trespasser.
It was just before 18:45 when an individual was reported to be on the tracks in the vicinity of Ryde St John’s, prompting the suspension of services up and down the line.
Police are now on scene and are using a drone to scour the track between Ryde St John’s Station and Smallbrook.
A dog handler has also been called in to track any scent on the ground.
Island Echo is led to believe that the male was in The Railway pub when disorder broke out, which led to the individual running out of the pub, across the road and onto the tracks.
Locals claim that the male caused another man a serious leg injury.
It is unknown when trains will be able to resume as per timetable.
UPDATE @ 20:34 – All line have now reopened, with Police failing to locate any persons on the track.
However, it is understood Police know the identity of the male and will be carrying out enquiries.
Island Line expects disruption to end by 21:00.
UPDATE FRIDAY – Police have confirmed that they responded to concerns for the welfare of a man behaving aggresively on St John’s Road at just before 18:00.
