The driver of a Toyota which rolled onto its side in Newchurch earlier this afternoon (Wednesday) is being sought by Police.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary were called at 16:19 with reports of a single vehicle collision on Winford Road, Newchurch in which a Toyota Previa had rolled on its side.
It was reported that the driver exited the vehicle and left the scene on foot.
It appears as though the vehicle crashed into a grass bank before rolling over. Enquiries into just what occurred remain ongoing.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area for the time being.

So either: –
Typical for the Isle of Wight.
If Donna Jones actually had an ounce of competance she would would be coordinating with the DVLA and DVSA and setting up a census point on Coppins Bridge to validate all cars and drivers. Driving standards across the island would improve overnight.
But no… lets focus on people doing 45 MPH in an area with no pedestrians or schools.
Great idea, we need more police patrolling island roads
Speeding is rife in all weather conditions.
another speeder are you ? Speed limits are for everyone’s safety.. including animals..
Enumpty is Enumpty will be along in a minute then
Someone needs to address numpty motorists on the island.
Everyone should take a re-test and islandwide speed cameras
would be great and make the island 20mph
Lol
You really do talk and write a load of s**t. Your title says it all, “Enough is Enough”.
Leaving the scene of an accident is a crime in
itself.
Makes one wonder if under the influence, otherwise
why do a runner.
Only if other people or others’ property are injured/damaged. This person hit a grass bank.
And the someone may well have been dazed, confused, ill or just wandered home to call the police and an ambulance.
But you just carry on with blinkered judgement. It’s what you’re good at. 5 excited, stupid, almost gleeful, judgemental comments on one small news article.
Leaving the vehicle in the road itself is a safety hazard.
I suggest you go to Specsavers.
Safety hazard, yes, illegal, no. Time constrained because of the time of the call to police and the imminently failing light may well have factored in the decision making.
The person should have picked it up? Or maybe walked to Bartletts just up the road to come and recover it? Or sat around twiddling their thumbs waiting for someone to notice and race to the rescue? Did they have a mobile phone? None of that is known by you or anyone else. Stop the knee-jerk righteous judgement.
You would make a good defendant for a guilty person,
stop making up excuses.
bullshit.
Can’t park there mate
It’s the Isle of Wight the authorities let people park
anywhere.
We need Sadiq Khan running the island, half the vehicles
would be towed away for parking ILLEGALLY and
many island vehicles are not ULEZ friendly but they
are allowed to pollute the beautiful Isle of Wight.
Rules on the island are a joke.

opinion discarded
And so it carries on………..
How did the driver get out of the vehicle?
If the driver had to open the passenger door it would have taken a pretty fit person as doors are heavy with the car on its side and would have had to have their wits about them, so, not dazed? Had a passenger?
Good point.
Got the driver yet?
Probably not it’s too difficult isn’t it.
